Wrapping up a fantastic summer at the Learning Center

by Tylisha Miller

The Learning Center’s summer program of 2023 started on July 3rd. With over 30 registered children, current attendees of our after school program and new faces joined us as we anticipated a fun and memorable start to the summer.

Our first week of the program also consisted of setting up for our annual book swap program. A few persons were able to donate books and we are always grateful for such generosity.

The kids did a series of learning activities that included creative writing, reading, phonics, and mathematics along with other hands-on activities such as ping pong, arts and craft, water balloon games, and musical chairs.

In the last week of the program, Megan Glynn, a dental assistant, offered her support by administering fluoride treatment, but not before doing a very informative talk with the kids about healthy dental practices.

We hope that the kids walked away from this program with a new sense of friendship, learned new things and know that The Learning Center is here to continue supporting them however we can. Again, a big thank you to the staff of The Learning Center for yet another year of assisting the children of Bequia and for doing a spectacular job at it. A big thank you to all our donors for continuing to support The Learning Center and, in turn, the people of Bequia.
