Last year the Hub held their first annual Creative Recovery Summer Camp (CRSC), and we were very happy to support their work. While the first offering, the camp was a success by every metric. For three weeks campers gathered to paint, drum, write poetry, perform, and take yoga classes.
It was a space for creativity to flourish and new friendships to emerge, though it was also an opportunity for students work with peers and mentors. The camps were lead by facilitators from across SVG and Grenada: Colin “Minkah” Peters, Judy Antoine, Selly Patterson and Rae-Dawne John.
Because of that success, we’re delighted to support the program again this year. These kinds of programs central to our mission of bringing youth together to grow and learn together. It’s also free to all participants, which makes the camps accessible to all who can benefit from them.
The Creative Recovery Summer Camp will be held Mondays to Fridays 9AM to 3PM at the Creative Arts Centre in Port Elizabeth beginning Monday, August 7th. The camps culminate with a Youth Show on Friday, August 25th. Stay tuned for details about location and time.
